Congratulations to Shelby for his outstanding achievement in reaching Level I of the Clinical Ladder Development Program at Oklahoma City Rehabilitation Hospital! Shelby is a dedicated physical therapist who joined our team in 2022 during the hospital’s initial construction phase.
Shelby’s clinical experience began as a student at Kaiser Permanente in Vallejo, CA, where he focused on neurology and spinal cord injury rehabilitation. During his time there, he earned his IPNFA Level 4 certification, which involved over 1,500 hours of rigorous proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation training. This process included in-depth, research-based movement analysis to enhance patient mobility. Shelby has also earned
his PWR Moves certification, a specialized program designed to improve treatment interventions for patients with Parkinson’s disease.
Since joining OKC Rehab, Shelby has taken on a wide range of roles, including serving as weekend therapy supervisor, contributing to the Center of Excellence in Rehab Services committee, and participating in the Stroke Support Squad. He has been an integral part of several key initiatives aimed at improving both employee development and patient outcomes. His contributions include the creation of Rehab University, Therapy University, partnerships with Hanger Orthotics and Prosthetics, and a comprehensive training program for patients and families.
“Throughout the past two years working at OKC Rehab Hospital, I have enjoyed seeing the fruition of service within the community…giving people back their lives, we truly have blessed our community. Delivering results is what makes me love my job. I especially enjoy figuring out the therapeutic puzzle piece to regain function,” Shelby said.
We are grateful for Shelby’s dedication, expertise, and contributions to both our team and the community.
